Amy Precious (b. 2002, Cottingham, Beverley) is a British artist based in Hull, England.
Precious is best recognized for her exploration of the intersection between visual and sound art, where she documents personal and collective experience through the lens of synaesthesia—using colour as a sensory language to evoke emotion, memory, and atmosphere. Her approach to contemporary drawing captures complex, abstract notions that blur the boundaries between what is seen, heard, and felt. Merging visual, sonic, and sensory elements, her work reflects the layered intensity of the modern world, where perception is increasingly fluid and multifaceted. In this space, colour becomes a voice—an intuitive expression of inner and shared realities.
Precious’s practice is grounded in an exploration of the human spirit, focusing on the political, cultural, and emotional textures that shape our lived experience. Her work engages with both intimate and collective narratives, responding to the complexities of contemporary life. Through the tactile use of oil pastels and acrylics, she explores themes of human connection, ecology, and spiritual transformation. Central to her process is the incorporation of sound—field recordings and sensory observation—that shape and transform the trajectory of her work, enabling a nuanced translation of the modern landscape. In this way, Precious positions her art as both personal reflection and collective inquiry—an ongoing exploration of how place, perception, and spirit intersect in today’s world.
Amy Precious lives and works in Hull, UK. Previously and whilst studying at Hull Institute of Arts, she has exhibited her works in several local venues, including the Art House Gallery (2022), Brew Café (2023), and in collaboration with the Unthinkable Film Festival, Hull (2024).
